CLOSING FOR THE SEASON!

As of 6pm today our Garden Center will be closing for the season.  A big "Thank You" to all of our customers! You made it a terrific year and we appreciate all of you!!  If you need a last minute gift card for Christmas or anytime throughout the winter you can purchase one in our office or online. It won't be long now and our greenhouses will be filling up with plantings for 2016!  See you in the Spring!

Bonni is retiring!

Congrats to our friend and co-worker Bonni Cook as she is retiring from full time.  She has been a dedicated and trustworthy employee of Nelson Nursery for 38 years, and it has been a blessing having her here!  We wish her the best on her next adventure!  She will be missed by all of us but never forgotten!! Thank you Bonni! ENJOY!!

FAIRY GARDEN WORKSHOP

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! We will be having a Fairy Garden Workshop on November 7th at 3pm.  The cost is $10.00 + tax and includes a pot and foundation materials such as snow, moss or rock.  All other items you choose for you garden can be purchased at our Garden Center.  We have a large selection of seasonal and every day miniatures.  Pre-registration and payment is required.  Call our office or go to our website for more information.

Fall Festival Fun!

Saturday, October 10th, is going to be a big day in Zimmerman, MN.  TWO FALL FESTIVALS!   Nelson Nursery Garden Center (11-2) and the Zimmerman Chamber of Commerce at the Civic Building (noon-6)!   DOUBLE THE FUN FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY!!!

Nelson Nursery's Fall Festival is FREE, except for a donation for the Petting Zoo, and Food Stand purchases!

The Chamber Event will be hosting a Bean Bag Tournament with cash prizes.   There will also be a Sherburne K-9 Demo, Food, Face Painting, Kids Tatoos, and other fun events for kids.    Food,  vendors and more!   Plus a Beer Garden for the Adults!!

It was a very busy Mother's Day weekend here at the Garden Center and we want to say "Thank You" to all of our customers...we appreciate your business!  We hope that you enjoyed being in the greenhouses amongst all the beautiful blooming flowere!  We know that the checkout lines got pretty busy at times, so we also want to Thank You for your patience! Just a quick reminder that the cooler weather and wind can damage your plants quite fast.  They have been used to the warm climate controlled greenhouses.  Try to protect them a bit until they get acclimated to the outside.   More warm weather is just around the corner.  Enjoy and Happy planting to all of you! 

TENDER PLANT ALERT!

Plants are Bloomin'Beautiful right now in our greenhouses!  Daytime temperatures are warm, but remember that these plants have been grown and cared for in a greenhouse environment of constant warm temperatures and no wind.  When they leave the greenhouse they will not do well with a sudden environmental change.  Temperatures should not dip below 5o degrees or they could be damaged, and even a slight frost can kill them. Wind will also have a poor effect on them.  The first couple of weeks you have your plants at home you need to acclimate them to the outdoors a little at a time and they will adjust. We want all of our customers to be successful in their gardening!  Happy planting everyone!

One year ago today was our Opening Day at the Garden Center and this is what it looked like!  Not only was it our opening day, but we closed early due to the weather!  Each year is so different!  We are now open and ready for you to come in and enjoy a spring preview of this years plants, gifts and garden decor! 1st Sign of Spring

Today we were excited to see the Proven Winners truck arrive with a shipment of plants for us.

Yes, Spring is coming ~~  It has started in our growing greenhouses!    Ahhhhhhhh...............

 

 

WELCOME BACK D.A.C.!

We welcome back The Developmental Achievement Center (adults with developmental disabilities) from Princeton to help us with planting our crop this year! On their first day back they planted 1,600 baskets! This year it is anticipated that the DAC crews will plant 8,000-9,000 baskets, 6,000 patio tubs and 150,000 4.5" pots. We love having them here..they always come to work with smiles on their faces and so happy to work in the greenhouse...and they do a fantastic job!!!
